OUR PHILOSOPHY

Around fifty years ago, Hans and Irmhild Singer laid the foundation stone of our success story. And this not only structurally but also for our corporate philosophy. Today, our Singer-Große family includes the founder Irmhild Singer, the owner Heike Singer-Große with her husband Ingo Große, and our children Anna-Sophie and Maximilian. For the whole family, your well-being and satisfaction is our top priority. If you feel you are in good hands with us, we are satisfied. We live hospitality.

You will find the family charm of our house down to the smallest detail. Both in the interpersonal interaction with each other and in the furnishing of the rooms.

If you are missing something, please contact us. We are happy to respond to your wishes and needs.

HISTORICAL AWARENESS

As modern and timeless as our rooms may seem, we have retained a historical awareness.

In 1973, Hans and Irmhild Singer decided to build our guesthouse. As a committed local historian, Hans Singer did not have to think long about the name of the new house. Although Bad Steben had already been declared a Royal Bavarian State Spa in 1832, it was Prinzregent Luitpold who, between 1886 and 1912, made our market town a real health resort with many buildings.

Whether it is the royal Parkhotel, the spacious spa gardens, the "Säulenwandelhalle", the historic "Kurhaus" and a new church building - even today, the buildings constructed during this period still have a decisive influence on the character of Bad Steben.

Our naming means appreciation and mission in one.

THE GUESTHOUSE

Our guest rooms are cosy and comfortable. Our guesthouse has 12 beds and offers you three comfort double rooms with balcony or terrace, one comfort twin room, two comfort single rooms and two standard single rooms with balcony. All rooms are furnished to a high standard, comfortably warm and with attention to detail, have modern bathrooms with shower, LED TV and WLAN. The charm of each room comes from the materials used, the choice of colours for the walls, the floor coverings and especially the solid wood furniture. After all, wood is the traditional raw material of the Franconian Forest, whose beech, spruce and fir trees have been exported all over the world for generations. Due to the south-facing location of the Prinzregent Luitpold, you have a magnificent view of the Franconian Forest from our guest rooms.

Other amenities for our guests include the fully equipped guest kitchen on the first floor. This also includes our beverage service.

For the knowledgeable, we recommend our small library and the detailed information material on the area around Bad Steben. We are also happy to inform you about possible excursions and activities during breakfast.

THE POSITION

Since the first mention of the town of Steben in 1374, as Bad Steben was called before it was designated a Royal Bavarian Spa, the market town has experienced an eventful development. Bad Steben can look back on a 1.000-year mining history, which even brought Alexander von Humboldt to the small Franconian Forest town for four years. From 1792 to 1796, he analysed the geology of the surrounding area and set innovative impulses for mining in the region.

The discovery and development of the three rare healing springs has had the greatest impact on the town to this day. Although Bad Steben only has around 3.600 inhabitants, it has around 340.000 overnight stays every year. Which is due to the regularly award-winning spa business.

The unique history of the spa is correspondingly influential on the architecture of the town. The 40-hectare listed spa park with the "Säulenwandelhalle", the bathhouse designed by Leo von Klenze (built in 1837), bears witness to this era. The Bad Steben spa, with its outdoor pool, wellness area and large sauna landscape, continues this history and is a popular destination for spa guests and those seeking relaxation.

Today, the market town, which lies approx. 600m above sea level, belongs to the district of Hof in the district of Upper Franconia.

THE GARDEN

Our extensive, well-kept garden delights our guests year after year with its grounds and splendour of blossoms. It is available to all visitors in its full size of 4000m² for recreation.

Over the decades, we have put a lot of time and energy into this jewel and made sure to meet different needs. A spacious sunny lawn, a terrace under a stately chestnut tree and small quiet zones leave plenty of room for relaxation.

THE BREAKFAST BUFFET

As Hotel garni *** we would like to offer our guests above all a successful start into the day. Of course, this includes a wonderful breakfast in a beautiful ambience.

The varied buffet with regional specialities from local bakeries, butchers and farms leaves hardly anything to be desired. A must for our regular guests: our home-baked cakes and jams. For you, too, perhaps?

Of course, we also cater to your individual preferences and needs and ask about intolerances and allergies. We are also happy to offer vegan food for you.

You are also welcome to end the day in our rooms together with other guests with a glass of wine or a Franconian beer.

CURES & WELLNESS

The healing springs of Bad Steben have been known for over 500 years. Since 2004, the Therme Bad Steben has expanded the spa facilities of the town. From the outdoor pool to the water world, the Saunaland with its seven saunas, a Wellness Dome with medical wellness bathing experiences such as the "Light & Sound - Pool" or even the "Pavilion of Feeling". On an area of over 8.500m², the spa combines architectural tradition and modernity using building materials from the region such as wood and natural slate. The spa is within walking distance of the Prinzregent Luitpold (approx. 500m through the spa gardens).
Thanks to our close cooperation with the Therme, we are able to offer our guests small discounts on admission prices with the guest card.
We will be happy to organise your personal wellness or spa programme in advance so that everything is ready for your arrival. You will find a bathrobe and tote bag in your room.

WALK & SHOP

With a relaxing walk, you can get from the Prinzregent Luitpold directly to the nearby historic spa park with its extensive 40ha grounds. The park is a garden monument with an English and Mediterranean character. The partly classical Art Nouveau buildings, the bathhouse designed by Leo von Klenze, the arcades of the "Säulenwandelhalle" and also the rose garden invite you to linger. The meadow and temple springs can also be found here. The graphic arts museum "Stiftung Schreiner" is also housed in the "Kurhaus am Kurpark" and offers not only its own collection but also changing exhibitions of well-known regional artists. It is not far from the spa gardens to the centre of Bad Steben. Shops, restaurants, pastry shops and cafés await your visit in the centre of town.

HIKING & CYCLING

The Franconian Forest has always been known as a hiker's paradise. Since 2015, the nature park has been the first region in Bavaria and the largest area in Germany to be certified as a "Quality Region Wanderbares Deutschland". This goes hand in hand with set standards for hiking accommodation and gastronomy while hiking. We are one of the 50 certified hiking hosts in the region and will be happy to inform you about your options for touring the approximately 4.000 kilometres of marked trails.
The Bad Steben network for cyclists and mountain bikers is just as impressive as the hiking Eldorado. Five circular trails with different fitness requirements can be easily combined and extended. E-bikes can even be rented at the tourist information office. For long tours, the ten lines of the "Frankenwaldmobil" bicycle buses are available.

WINTER ACTIVITIES

Bad Steben also has a lot to offer in winter. In addition to the year-round offers of the state spa, cross-country ski trails are groomed in the surrounding area. Our holiday flat can be booked all year round. The rest of the guesthouse is closed in December and January.
